The strategic gap is wider than most European investors realise — and it is closing fast. ## What happened in China In April 2023, Aerofugia — a subsidiary of Chinese automaker Geely — convened a formal board meeting in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, and officially launched type certification for its AE200 air taxi. The meeting was not symbolic. Aerofugia signed a Project Specific Certification Plan with the Civil Aviation Administration of China's Southwest Area Management Bureau, and formally established the AE200's Type Certification Committee and Project Review Team in the same session.
